Princeton University celebrates service

On Wednesday, April 26, Princeton University gathered over 300 individuals from the University and local communities for Celebrating Service at Princeton.  This event honored the service and civic engagements done by students, faculty, Princeton University staff, and community partners.

Among those partners is Trenton Health Team, who was honored to provide a way for Princeton students to serve and learn about healthcare in Trenton.  The students were able to read existing data, literature, and legislation, and examine initiatives like Tobacco 21, Complete Streets, and more.

“It was exciting to bridge this area of burgeoning academic work on understanding the broader influences of health with the chance to broaden students’ views of the issue by engaging in a community where it’s become real,” said Heather Howard, director of the State Health Reform Assistance Network with the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, and councilwoman for the town of Princeton, who facilitated the freshman class who served with THT.
