Health Information Exchange Director
Owen Hendricks joined Trenton Health Team in September 2020 as Trenton Health Information Exchange (HIE) Director.
Owen provides day-to-day oversight and management of HIE operations and activities, including system functions, quality standards, security and compliance requirements, implementation support, utilization analysis, and assistance in planning and implementing the HIE architecture expansions. These duties are essential to enabling the Trenton Health Team to leverage HIE capabilities and resources to support our community population health improvement strategies
Prior to joining THT, Owen served as the CMIO for HBISC, managing healthcare IT teams responsible for systems integrations, health informatics, regulatory compliance, population health analytics/initiatives and innovative solutions. Over the years, his roles have included CMIO, Director, Project Manager, Analyst, Professor, Infrastructure & Systems Engineer, Network Administrator and others.
Owen was introduced to public health in 1986 when he worked with Peace Corp Officer teaching sex education and health classes on the island of Ebeye in the Kwajalein Atoll. Being of Jamaican and African-American descent, he developed an almost instant connection with the residents.
A native of New York, Owen earned a bachelor of science in biochemistry from Oakwood University, followed by his MD at the American International School of Medicine in Georgetown, Guyana.
