Gregory Paulson,

CEO

Greg began his healthcare career in high school when he was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician in Los Angeles County, California. After moving to NJ for college, Greg volunteered with Princeton’s local EMS agency, and he went on to become that organization’s youngest Chief, serving in the role for seven years.

During graduate school, Greg was certified as a Paramedic and subsequently worked in several NJ counties. He served as the Manager of the EMS Department at Somerset Medical Center, where he oversaw a five-fold expansion of the Department with corresponding improvements in operational performance, patient satisfaction, and revenue.

Throughout his time as an EMT and Paramedic, Greg helped thousands of patients who were requesting emergency care when they actually needed better access to primary care and social services. Those patients also showed him the profound impacts of the community conditions that drive health outcomes. His desire to improve how the healthcare system responds to those needs led him to Trenton Health Team in 2013 as one of its first employees.

As THT Deputy Director, Greg led the effort to develop and launch the Trenton Health Information Exchange (HIE) and worked to build its value for clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. He also worked to hire THT’s initial staff and establish programmatic and operational infrastructure to create a foundation for the organization’s growth.

Greg was promoted to lead the organization in May, 2015. He spearheaded THT’s visioning and strategic planning efforts and has guided the organization’s growth from 11 employees with a $1.5M budget to 50 employees with an $8M budget in 2023. He has represented THT in national initiatives focused on improving regional health through multi-sector alignment and the particular role of “integrator” organizations.

Greg earned a BA in Psychology from Princeton University and an MS in Emergency Services Management from Drexel University. He currently lives in Hopewell, NJ, with his wife and three daughters.
