Emily Baggett, MPH,
Chief Policy & External Affairs Officer
Emily Baggett joined the Trenton Health Team in February 2018 as the Senior Director of Policy and Strategy. She was promoted to Chief Policy & External Affairs Officer in April of 2022.
Prior to joining the Trenton Health Team, Emily served in the Policy Office of Governor Chris Christie as a Senior Policy Advisor, handing policy matters related to health, human services, the child welfare system, housing, and the state’s opioid-related initiatives, including staffing the Governor on the President’s Commission on Combatting Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis.
Being in Governor’s Office for over three years gave Emily a deep understanding of how health policy is shaped and implemented and how organizations can be successful partners with government entities. Emily was fortunate to work alongside colleagues who share the view that health care is not simply medical care, and got to work on several task forces and working groups that looked at housing, homelessness, substance use disorder, and poverty in New Jersey.
In addition, Emily spent three years working on health policy for the American Action Forum, a think tank in Washington, DC. She regularly drafted white papers, data-driven infographics, and Congressional testimony for the organization’s president, and got some experience doing media with television and radio appearances.
Emily holds a Master of Public Health from the George Washington University with a Health Policy concentration, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, also from the George Washington University.
Emily’s policy expertise and passion for public health will help further the great work that the Trenton Health Team is doing to improve the lives of area residents.
